Wood Foundation Donates $1M to Fistula Foundation

In September 2016, The Paul and Pamela Wood Foundation donated $1 million – one of the largest gifts in Fistula Foundation history.

This generous gift will help fund construction of two new hospitals and establishes Fistula Foundation’s first-ever endowment, providing a lasting source of funds for treating women with fistula, now and for years to come.

Thanks to the Woods, Fistula Foundation partners in Tanzania and Bangladesh will now be able to fund hospital construction projects. In Tanzania, our partner Maternity Africa will open the Kivulini Maternity Center, where as many as 200 women will be able to receive free fistula treatment every year. These funds will also help furnish and equip the fistula ward and operating theatre of the forthcoming Hope Maternity and Fistula Center in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

“I am inspired by the generosity of Paul and Pamela Wood and humbled by the trust and confidence they have placed in us. Because of the Woods, many women for years to come will receive life-transforming fistula treatment,” said CEO Kate Grant.
