Yusuf Omenda Abasi is Hotline Operator of Fistula Foundation’s nationwide treatment network in Kenya. He is a development consultant with over 25 years of work experience in community outreach and engagement. Yusuf began his career as Agricultural Extension Officer for the Kenyan government, where he coordinated interventions to combat HIV and AIDS. It was during this time that he first learned about obstetric fistula. Today, Yusuf dedicates his time to fistula advocacy and community mobilization, training Community Health Workers (CHWs) in how to identify and refer fistula cases.
Prior to joining Fistula Foundation, Yusuf served as a Project Advisor for Heifer International in Western Kenya. He is also Branch Chairman of the Kenya Red Cross Society, and a member of both the Computer Society of Kenya and the Information Technology Association of Kenya.
