In mid-February, fistula surgeons, policy makers, researchers, and advocates gathered from around the world in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh to attend the 2nd HOPE Maternal Health & Fistula Conference. The event was hosted by Dr. Iftikher Mahmood and HOPE Hospital, Fistula Foundation’s trusted partner in Bangladesh.

Over the course of the two-day conference, attendees heard from distinguished speakers on key topics, including best practice in fistula care and prevention, obstetric emergencies, public-private partnerships, and innovations in fistula care. Fistula Foundation and UNFPA were the main sponsors of the conference.

Dr. Steve Arrowsmith was presented with an award at the conference, honoring his leadership in obstetric fistula treatment. Dr. Arrowsmith also served as conference chair. Fistula Foundation is honored to be a part of the vital conversations held here. This convening will help to significantly move the needle on improving access to maternal and fistula care—today and for years to come.
