February is a Month of Love

…but monthly donors spread it year-round!

At Fistula Foundation, we believe that spreading love and hope should be a year-round activity. That’s why we are so proud of our monthly donor community. Over 1,000 of these passionate individuals are working to end the suffering caused by obstetric fistula.

Washington physician John Moran is a proud monthly supporter. He became curious about Fistula Foundation after learning about “effective altruism” from his son— a relatively new global movement that uses data and analysis to maximize the impact of charitable giving. John’s research took him to Peter Singer’s The Life you Can Save, which referred him to Fistula Foundation and the problem of obstetric fistula.

“What led me to choose Fistula Foundation was how concrete the results of donating would be,” he said.

“It really gives me a good feeling every month, that if I hadn’t accomplished anything else that month, at least I helped pay for one [fistula] procedure.”

In 2017, monthly donors were responsible for funding 20% of all fistula repair surgeries performed. Because of their passion and commitment, over a thousand women were restored to health last year!
