Help Us Build a Fistula Ward in Bangladesh

See how Hope Hospital is helping in Bangladesh

Nine in 10 women in southern Bangladesh give birth at home, often in the hands of untrained birth attendants—putting mothers at great risk for injuries like obstetric fistula. Women who need help are often too poor to pay for transportation or treatment at the nearest care facility.

But one man is helping. Born in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, Dr. Iftikher Mahmood always dreamed of giving something back to his country to alleviate suffering and improve the health of mothers and children. In 1999, he rented a one-room outpatient clinic that has grown to become Hope Hospital, a 40-bed charitable hospital. But, as word continues to spread about Hope’s services, there is simply not enough space to accommodate all of the women who need fistula treatment.

Dr. Mahmood dreams of building a facility that can accommodate all women who need care. Fistula Foundation has pledged $250,000 to help build and support the fistula ward of an additional 75-bed facility dedicated to delivering care to poor mothers. But we need your help to raise these funds before September 30!

Please add a brick to help build the fistula ward. Whether you list your name or leave it anonymous, your donation will add another brick to the walls of a facility that will end the wait for women suffering from fistula in Bangladesh.
